BALI : Bali possesses one of the world's most sophisticated
cultures. For many decades, the island has experienced a
cultural efflorescence, the effects which are still strongly
felt today. This unique and vibrant culture, the cynosure
of many writers and artists, is reflected in the art and
craft, the architecture and music, and even in the flowing
contours of its sculpted landscape.
CONCEPT : When planning a new house, the Balinese consult
an Undagi. The Undagi (literally meaning "eminent" or "resourceful" person)
is an architect/priest who determines the suitability
of a site, using a spiritual concept of compass directions.
Following these principals, private family compounds,
which
are almost like a village in themselves, incorporate
all the romance of Bali with the basic conveniences of
the
west.
ARCHITECTURE : Bali’s culture is particularly visible
in its architecture. Temples, villages and courtyards are
all designed to reflect the philosophy and lifestyles of
Bali’s highly organized society. The main components
of Balinese architecture—whether temples, palaces
or simple houses— are the pavilion, walled compound
and entrance gate. Intimate calculations based on body
measurements govern proportions. Well-known Balinese Architect,
Bapak Ketut Artana, has been, over the years, instrumental
in the design of some of Bali’s most spectacular
five-star hotel and private homes. His creativity and
imaginative design helped us to create a place of peace,
relaxation
and total comfort.
ACCOMMODATION : Experience and enjoy
the true magic of Bali in your home away from home. It
was not our aim to
build a hotel but to include in our accommodations the
feel of a private home. Each room is filled with well thought
through conveniences which will satisfy the expectations
of the most sophisticated travelers.
No village in Bali
can function without its inhabitants and as such, all our
rooms are designed to accommodate
mama, papa and their two children. Should parents wish
to have a night out alone, a private butler will take care
of the children, and will also be on hand to fulfill other
wishes and needs. Not only are all rooms very spacious
and tastefully furnished with the finest materials, our
bathrooms are also specially fitted with rain showerheads
and walk-in wardrobes. There is even space for a nap in
our oversized bathtubs if you so wish.
